Conscious Café favorites: Yaya Kombucha

Kombucha has become quite well known lately, but surely not everyone knows what it is. Kombucha actually is fermented green and/or black tea and sugar, yeast and bacteria. So it starts as a sweet tea, and ends up to be a more sour tasting drink, called kombucha. At our sexy grab and go Conscious Café you can buy and try the Amsterdam made Yaya Kombucha in different flavors; natural, ginger, blueberry mint and citra hop.

The drink originally comes from China and has been consumed by many people for over 2000 years already. The main reason people drink the sour drink is to replace sugary sodas and alcoholic drinks with something more healthy. Kombucha is believed to detoxify the blood, reduce the cholesterol level and blood pressure, protect against diabetes, prevents ageing, and has antibacterial effects. Some studies also believe that it has antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Besides all these benefits, kombucha has an extremely yummie taste as well!

It is also very easy to make. You can brew it at home in your own kitchen. And this is exactly how Yaya Kombucha brewers Tom and Charlotte started their company, in their home in Amsterdam. In 2015 they decided to start brewing commercially and their spare bedroom became a solid home brewery where they began the real flavor research and development. A lot of tastings later they found the perfect recipe for their delicious kombucha. In late 2016 they were officially founded and early 2017 their brewery was fully operational. With every bottle filled and packed by hand, it is from the beginning to the end of the process a natural and artisan product.

Now their production is SKAL organic certified. The tea they use is organic and they also use unrefined organic cane sugar. The additional flavors are also made using organic and natural ingredients. Since the kombucha from Yaya Kombucha is not pasteurized, it is considered a raw product and it is bursting with good bacteria.
