Did you know that tap water in the Netherlands is safe?
More than that, tap water is super safe here. In fact, it is super tasty! No chlorin-taste, whatsoever.
In the Netherlands, tap water must meet more strict requirements than water in bottles. According to the "Drinking Water Decree" water companies are required to test their drinking water for 700 different substances. Bottled water is only tested on 10 to 20 substances.
Also, tap water is much more sustainable than bottled water. Tap water comes (like the word might have reveiled already) just from the tap. Bottled water usually comes in plastic bottles. By drinking tap water we save on resource use and CO2 emissions. Moreover, we will process much less plastic waste. (Every day 500 000 plastic bottles become waste in our country. Imagine.)
That's why we offer free tap water to everyone at our hotels in Amsterdam. Sometimes with fresh mint, sometimes with a piece of lemon. When it's really hot outside, we put in icecubes for you to cool you down a little.
Also, in your room there are glasses next to the tap, where you can easily fill it up with this lovely source of life. Drink as much as you want. Or fill bottles with it to take it on your trip into Amsterdam.
